The origin of fables dates back to ancient times. They were collected in the 4th century BC by Demetrius of Phalerum, although this compilation has been lost. The main collection of fables attributed to Aesop, which many modern editions are based on, is called the Augustana, anonymous, which some authors date back to the 1st or 2nd century and others to the 5th century. Aesop was the first known storyteller, and this tradition continues to this day. Many of the tales feature animals and inanimate objects that speak, solve problems, and generally have human characteristics. The ant and the grasshopper, The lion and the mouse, The wolf and the lamb, The hare and the tortoise are some of the fables that make up this collection.
